MY HOOPER FAMILY

IN THE EARLY APPEARANCE OF THE HOOPER NAME IN THE  SOMERSET AREA OF ENGLAND IT WAS CONNECTED TO THE NAME ELSTONE - THE FAMILIES HAD DIFFERENT VARIATIONS OF THE NAME
SOME WERE ELSTONE - ELSTONE-HOOPER - ELSTON-HOOPER - HELSTON-HOOPER - OR HOOPER
THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PRACTICE OF FAMILIES THERE - DIFFERENT THEORIES ARE PUT
FORTH OF WHY TWO SURNAMES WERE USED - POSSIBLY IT WAS DUE TO LAND RITES OF FAMILIES
OR IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN TO SHOW MATRIMONIAL TIES TO FAMILIES OF THE SAME STATURE
MOST OF OUR FAMILY MEMBERS CAME FROM THE SOMERSET / BRISTOL AREA
